Sanding off antifouling is one of the least popular jobs on a boat: it’s dusty, strenuous and often yields mediocre results. Yet with the right knowledge, the sanding process can be carried out much more quickly, safely and evenly. This talk provides practical guidance on how to sand the hull safely and efficiently – from health and safety considerations through to the choice of abrasives and machinery, right through to the correct sanding technique. The talk takes place right next to a boat’s hull: all equipment is demonstrated live rather than on slides, and afterwards, visitors are invited to try the machine for themselves.
